由布川渓谷は、覆いかぶさるような高い断崖に挟まれた渓谷でした。腰の下まで流れに浸かり渓流を遡行して、チョックストーンを見てきました (2009年 春 ･ 2011年 夏)。
The Yufugawa Valley was a valley between high cliffs which seem to stoop. While I put my hips into the stream, I went upstream against the valley, and looked a chockstone (

ひとけのない狭く薄暗い谷底は、とても不気味に感じました。
I felt that the narrow gloomy and empty bottom of the valley is eerie.

住友金属工業の特殊管事業所の専用軌道に、機関車や貨車が走っていました (2011 秋)。
実測したところ、軌間は762mmのようでした。
列車が県道を横断していました。遮断機はありませんでした。
On an exclusive track in Steel Tube Works of Sumitomo Metal Industries, locomotives and wagons were running (
Autumn, 2011).
The gauge which was measured was seemingly 762mm (2 feet 6 inches).
One train was crossing a road. There was not a crossing gate.

This is spoil heaps adjoining Shime Mining (
Summer, 2009).

変わった形のポストがありました (34.375208, 132.519532) (2003年 春)。
「郵便差出箱6号」という珍しい種類のポストのようでしたが、既に異なるタイプのものに交換されてしまったようです。
